Motorists irked over traffic lights

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Motorists have criticized the Talisay City Government  for the busted traffic lights at the intersection of San Isidro Street and South Coastal Road. The traffic lights have been busted for a month now.

Motorist also noted the absence of traffic enforcers in the area, which is reportedly prone to accidents.

Arturo Bas, the city’s public information officer, said the city cannot fix the lights because they are reportedly being managed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The city has reportedly already asked the agency to take action. Bas said the city government also asked DPWH to turn over management of the traffic lights to the city to prevent delayed response should the same situation recur.

Aside from the subject traffic lights, the city also asked DPWH to repair busted lamps along the South Coastal Road in Barangays Tangke and in sitio Laray in Barangay San Roque. –/JMO (FREEMAN)
