Factory worker “commits suicide”

CEBU, Philippines - A woman who worked as a factory worker for a company located inside the Mactan Export Zone Phase 1 in Lapu-Lapu City was found dead, hanging by the neck inside a rented room in barangay Ibo.

The Lapu-Lapu City Homicide Section identified the woman as Cecilia Mahilum, 29, of Metro Ware.

PO2 Luisito Ernie said Mahilum was last seen at about 7:30 p.m. Monday having dinner with husband, Julito.

The husband told police that after dinner, he went back to his work.

But when he returned to their rented room at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, he found his wife already dead.

He rushed his wife to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital but Dra. Evelyn Magno declared her dead on arrival. (FREEMAN)
