“Masiao” point man arrested

CEBU, Philippines -  A man who was tagged as an alleged general coordinator for the operation of the illegal number games “masiao” and “swertres” was arrested Wednesday morning during a raid conducted by the City Intelligence Office, Casuntingan police station, and the IDMB of the Mandaue City Police Office.

Jerry Adolfo, alias Baydong, of legal age, and a resident of sitio Pilit in barangay Cabangcalan, was at home when the team, led by P/Insp.Philipp Silva, arrived.

Silva served Adolfo a search warrant signed by Judge Ramon Daomilas of the RTC Branch 55. 

Bookmakers, called “ushers” by bettors of “masiao” and “swertres,” pointed to Adolfo as the general coordinator in the city.

During the raid police seized 155 tally sheets and five bundles of stubs with number combinations.

The man is temporary detained at the Casuntingan police station pending the filing of charges against him.  (FREEMAN)
