San Pedro Calungsod procession priests told to set up “karos” early

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The coordinator for the south component of the procession for the thanksgiving mass for San Pedro Calungsod, Monsignor, has asked all priests in the south to bring their carts, or “karos,” early at the Talisay City Fish Port in Cebu South Coastal Road in barangay Tangke to prevent delays.

Ruben Labajo of  Saint Joseph Parish Church in Tabunok, Talisay City, Labajo told reporters yesterday he wants priests to have their “karo” at the area on the evening of November 29 (Thursday) so that decorating can start on the evening of this day or dawn of November 30.

Labajo said 32 “karos” from the south are expected to join the procession.

On November 30 at 8:00 in the morning, these will be lined up at the south coastal road for inspection by the police at around 9:00 in the morning for security purposes.

The procession is scheduled to start at around 1:00 p.m. on November 30 but the schedule could change depending on the size of the crowd.

He also said parishioners who come late will stay at the tail-end of the procession.

Right now, Labajo’s assessment is that the procession is almost completely ready.

On November 29 at around 8:00 a.m., a final security briefing by the police that will be held at the Talisay City Sports Complex and a dry-run of the procession follow at the CSCR.  (FREEMAN)
