Town officials ask for NBI help

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - After receiving a threat to burn the municipal hall, Consolacion town officials immediately sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation.

Legal officer Christian Bacus told police he received the threat.

Bacus suspects that the threat could is an offshoot of an interview he gave a local radio station involving a lot property in the town.

Bacus recalled that the male caller of the telephone told him in vernacular “Sir basig naay masunog, ang atong korte, maapil ang atong municipal building.”

According to Bacus, he also informed Mayor Teresa Alegado about the threat.

Bacus has been given tasked by the municipal council to look into problems involving transactions made by the previous administration over the lot in sitio Laray in barangay Nangka.

The case is now pending at the Municipal Trial Court in the town.

Vice Mayor Aurelio Damole and members of the municipal council want the NBI to investigate the case.

The sala of the Municipal Trial Court is located at the second floor of the municipal hall of Consolacion. (FREEMAN)
