Radaza unveils news site called “Mactan Post”
CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza unveiled at the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex yesterday afternoon the news site, Mactan Post, the first ever local government unit-run online newsroom in the country.
Two hundred young volunteers were inducted to become Mactan Post’s online reporters who will work with SPO2 Rodito Viovicente, the eldest volunteer.
Viovicente will become the group’s digital content specialist.
Radaza said that peace and order is important to Lapu-Lapu City being Cebu’s tourism capital.
“Who would have thought that a once sleepy town called Opon, only reachable by barge from the main land and now a highly urbanized city named Lapu-Lapu will be at the forefront of the digital age?” Radaza said.
The news site will provide news and information and stories about the city as well as the local government, the community, and the people.
Radaza said Mactan Post will also serve as a platform that aims to bring together every sector of the community to help the city progress and develop further.
Mactan Post will be an interactive news site where people can raise issues and concerns that need to be addressed not only by the city government but by the entire community as well.
The digital newsroom will also soon become a highly credible source of news for the mainstream media.
SK Federation president Nicole Balao is Mactan Post’s News and Community Engagement Director.
She will handle the digital reporters.
Max and Marlen Limpag of InnoPub Media will be Mactan Post’s editorial and technical consultants.
IDs will be provided to online reporters to identify them as online reporters of the Mactan Post. (FREEMAN)
