Mandaue, 3 towns receive funds for school buildings

CEBU, Philippines - The Priority Development Assistance Fund of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano has released P4 million to the city government of Mandaue and the towns of Compostela, Ginatilan, and Samboan for the construction of school buildings.

Willie Buenaventura, chief of staff of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano told Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Mayor Joel Quino of Compostela, Mayor Lionel Bacaltos of Sibonga, and Mayor Antonio Singco of Ginatilan about the release of the funds.

The release of the P4 million was approved by the Department of Budget and Management.

The senator gave P1 million to Mandaue City for the construction of school building at the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School.

Rey Martinez, one of the staff of Senator Cayetano in-charge for the Visayas said the Parents Teacher and Community Association at Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School had requested Senator Cayetano for a school building.

Martinez said members of the parents and teachers association at the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School recently discussed the lack of classrooms, which eventually led them to request Senator Cayetano for funding.

In Compostela town, Mayor Quino also requested Senator Cayetano for the construction of a school building at Mulao Elementary School.

In the Municipality of Ginatilan, Mayor Singco has requested Senator Cayetano for the construction of a school building in Palanas Integrated School in barangay Palanas in the town.

Sibonga Mayor Bacaltos also requested the senator for support for the construction of a school building at Manatad Elementary School in barangay Manatad in the town.

Cayetano, who chairs the Senate Committee on Education, approved the request citing the need for the construction of a new school building. – (FREEMAN)
