Taxi driver hits traffic enforcer
CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver used his vehicle to hit a traffic enforcer of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) after his attention was called for attempting to pick up passengers at a prohibited area.
Traffic enforcer Ramil Branzuela, of barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City, detailed at M. Logarta Street in barangay Subangdaku near the North Bus terminal, was injured after he was hit by the car driven by Joel Aranquez, 40, married, and a taxi driver of MJ Taxi with plate number GWN-611.
PO2 Dante Flores of the Mandaue City traffic division said two witness said Branzuela called the attention of Aranquez after he saw him from a distance calling for passengers at a “no stopping area.”
As he moved to apprehend Aranquez, the driver swerved his taxi towards Branzuela and hit him on his right leg.
“Balikan pa man gani unta to sa suspect maayo na lang gani daw niabot iyang mga kauban nga enforcer ug gidakop ang suspect,” Flores said .
Branzuela was taken to the Mandaue City Hospital. Aranquez is now detained at the Subangdaku police station. (FREEMAN)
