- Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - A bread vendor, while driving his tricycle in barangay Poblacion, Liloan town early morning yesterday, was robbed and killed by two robbers, one of them a minor.

Bread seller Roger Sasing, married, of sitio Dapdap, barangay Catarman, lost P820 in earnings to the robbers who were arrested by the police three hours after the crime was committed.

Sasing, a former member of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN), died on the spot due to stab wounds to the neck and abdomen as well as contusions on the face.

Now detained at the Liloan stockade are Virgilio Sayre, 23, and a 17-year-old boy, both of barangay Jubay.

Robbery with homicide charges are being prepared against the suspects.

A separate case for carnapping will also be filed against them for stealing a motorcycle.

Police said the suspects waited for him to appear.

Chief Insp. Richard Oliver, Liloan chief, told The FREEMAN Sasing was stabbed and hit in the face with a piece of wood when he refused to hand over his money.

“Wala namo mahibaw-i if sino ang nagdunggab ug nagpuspos kay nagtutulakan na sila,” Oliver said.

Village watchmen radioed the police who then chased the suspects.

The juvenile was arrested at Sayre’s house.

Sayre was arrested at the house of his sibling in the same barangay.

Police recovered the piece of wood allegedly used in the crime but not the sharp weapon used to stab Sasing.

Suspects were also accused of carnapping a motorcycle as they were positively identified by the complainant who refused to be named.

“Ang minor ang kumuha sa sakyanan unya kasama niya nang usa (Sayre),” Oliver said in a phone interview.  (FREEMAN)
