- Jose P. Sollano - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Businessman Glenn Soco yesterday said his decision to run for the vice gubernatorial post in next year’s election is anchored on the basic principles of good servant leadership, transparency and accountability, and good governance.

According to Soco, new politics and his track record in the private sector will pave the way for his entry into government service, which would make him more effective in implementing a platform of government and as a leader.

Soco said he has lined up plans and programs and objectives.

He said he wants to contribute to the provincial government in pushing for economic growth by fostering more and better private and public partnerships in creating more economic enterprises, infrastructure, social programs, entrepreneurship, tourism, manpower development, and sports development.

He will also push and lobby for more infrastructure projects, micro and macro like the trans-axial highway idea and the Light Rail Transit idea.

He wants to strengthen the Provincial Micro and Small Enterprise Council, contribute to the provincial government in its job generation programs to effectively address the gap between the industry and the job market.

He would devolve the employment services system to the barangay level and involve the unit in people empowerment and manpower development.

He also wants to push for effective legislation to aid budget and fiscal management of the provincial government.

Streamline resources to allocate more for infrastructure development, scholarships, social and basic services.

He wants to play an active role in ensuring accountability and transparency in the provincial government.

He also push and legislate for bigger and more expansive scholarship programs, support technical skills training, and people empowerment programs, push and legislate for more incentives and benefits for barangay workers.   – (FREEMAN)
