Soc to sign MOA with Pag-Ibig
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City council has authorized Mayor Socrates Fernandez to enter into and sign a memorandum of agreement with Pag-Ibig Fund (Home Development Mutual Fund) for the establishment of an extension office in the city.
A proposed resolution, sponsored by Councilor Richard Francis F. Aznar, states that the city understands the need to establish government offices within its locality and is willing to support the programs of governmental institutions aimed at stimulating local economic activity as well as establish services that promote social change and development.
It is the policy of the State to establish, develop, promote and integrate a nationwide sound and viable tax-exempt mutual provident savings system suitable to the needs of the employed and other earning groups as well as to motivate them to better plan and provide for their housing needs thru membership with the PAG-IBIG FUND pursuant to the spirit of social justice and the pursuit of national development.
Under Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9676, otherwise known as the “Home Development Mutual Fund Law of 2009,” the Pag-Ibig Fund is tasked to oversee the implementation of the provisions to achieve the objective of improving the quality of life of the Filipino workers by promoting an integrated nationwide provident savings system and home ownership.
“The city is a globally competitive and environmentally sound premier center of trade and commerce in the southern part of the Cebu Province which is committed in delivering efficient and effective governance through the provisions of basic services and facilities to its constituents,” Aznar said.
According to Aznar, the Pag-Ibig Fund and the city acknowledge that an inter-agency cooperation, coordination, and assistance will allow and enable their respective agencies to achieve their goals as well as guarantee prompt delivery of services to constituents and members. (FREEMAN)
