Tricycle driver shot dead

CEBU, Philippines -  tricycle driver died on the spot after getting shot several times by two men on a motorcycle at around 9:21 Friday evening along M. L. Quezon Street in barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City.

George Cortes, 29, married, and a resident of the place, sustained gunshot wounds on the forehead and other parts of his body.

He was declared dead on arrival by physicians of the North General Hospital in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

PO1 Ronald Manlangit of the Casuntingan police station said the victim’s wife had said that Cortes had awakened because of the heat inside the house and went out to cool himself.

Downstairs, while talking to a friend who rents a space in ground floor of the house, two men came and one of them shot at him.

His friend’s life was spared.

“Sa  akong pakighinabi sa asawa, wa dyud daw ni ma-involve og illegal nga kalihukan apan gikompirmar niya nga baba-on dyud kaayu ning iyang bana,” Manlangit said (FREEMAN)
