CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City legal office has issued a notice of demolition to 18 individuals who own illegal pigpens found along B. Ceniza Street in sitio Ihawan in barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City.
One of the owners issued a notice by city legal officer Giovanni Tianero is barangay Mantuyong captain Antonio Maquilan, who is engaged in the “lechon” business.
Also issued notices were Farley Macasero, Galo Casinillo, Victor Magale, Leodeegario Raya, Rogelio Baclohan, Rick Oclaret/Marites Baclohan, Ronald Lobredo, Franky Lobrido, Mario Olalo, Pablo Sacil, Jonie Baloro, Roberto Igot, Raymundo Pepito, and Boy Yongco.
The notice stated that the concerned violated the city’s zoning ordinance, the sanitation code of the Philippines, and the Animal Welfare Act.
Tianero also said despite the notices, the pigpen owners continued to do business.
He said they were ordered to demolish the illegal structures and transfer their hogs to the city abattoir in barangay Labogon. – (FREEMAN)
