Talisay dad to police: Take Joavan to court
CEBU, Philippines - Should the police wait for Ignacio Enjambre to file a case against Joavan Fernandez for the alleged indiscriminate firing of a gun outside Enjambre’s house in barangay Dumog, Talisay City last Wednesday evening before filing a case themselves?
No, Talisay City Councilor Romeo Villarante, who is vice chairman of the committee on laws, said after learning that Enjambre is still unsure whether to file a case against the mayor’s son.
“The police should file a case if there are witnesses available even without Mr. Enjambre filing a case,” Villarante said.
Villarante said by filing a case, the police can show that nobody is above the law in Talisay.
He said the police should enforce the full force of the law.
Enjambre had told police that Joavan fired his gun indiscriminately after his request for a loan of P10,000 was denied.
Enjambre refused to give in to Joavan’s request because of alleged existing unpaid loans.
Supt. Eddie Recamara, Talisay City police chief, on the other hand, will check if Joavan has a license to carry a gun.
Joavan has gained an unsavory reputation for being involved in controversies. – (FREEMAN)
