- Flor Z. Perolina - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City will soon have more regional trial court branches after the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights and Finance approved Monday a bill sponsored by Rep. Gabriel Luis R. Quisumbing that seeks the creation of such.

Passed was Congressman Gabriel Luis R. Quisumbing’s bill entitled “An Act Creating Additional Branches of the Regional Trial Court to be Stationed in the City of Mandaue, Province Of Cebu, Amending for the Purpose Section 14, Paragraph (H) of Batas Pambansa Bilang 129, as Amended, otherwise known as “The Judiciary Reorganization Act of 1980”, and Appropriating Funds Therefor.”

Upon approval of Rep. Quisumbing’s bill, the Senate then transmitted the same to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

“We are very happy with the approval of our measure. Many of our judges, lawyers, and litigants will surely welcome this law creating additional courts which will advance the effective delivery of justice and promote law and order in our society,” Quisumbing said.

The proposal of seven additional Regional Trial Court branches will be created in the Seventh Judicial Region with seats at Mandaue City.

The Supreme Court shall assign the branch number of the newly-created branches of the Regional Trial court.

Quisumbing also thanked both Senators Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Senate Committee on Justice chairman Senator Chiz Escudero for their counterpart measures for the creation of additional RTCs in Mandaue City.

He said that with the creation of additional courts in the city, constituents can expect  speedy resolutions of their cases. (FREEMAN)
