CEBU, Philippines - A former barangay tanod was shot dead by an unidentified person early morning yesterday in sitio Mohon I, barangay Tisa, Cebu City.
Victor Atillo, 34, of sitio Bayong, barangay Tisa, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
He was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Roque Atillo, 41, the victim’s older brother, alleged he was sleeping at his house when one of their neighbors woke him up upon seeing Victor lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his right shoulder, back portion of the body, and left arm.
Rochie Arboiz, 30, the victim’s live-in partner, immediately ran outside the house and attended to Victor, who was about two blocks away from their house.
Police said David Borinaga, 65, a tricycle driver, saw Victor injured and walking from the interior portion of the place armed with a handgun at around 3:00 a.m.
He said Victor was allegedly shouting for help but nobody assisted him presumably because he was armed.
Arboiz alleged the night before the incident, he saw Victor having a drink with a certain Maki and Ikoy wherein a few minutes later a heated argument ensued between Maki and Victor.
But the last person who was seen with Victor was Ikoy. (FREEMAN)
