Talisay dad plans to probe motor pool
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilor and majority floor leader Rodi Cabigas has proposed to create a fact-finding team to investigate a report that says the city owes a private motor shop some money for the repair and maintenance of city-owned vehicles despite the city’s own motor pool.
Cabigas yesterday said he has heard the city’s debt from the private motor pool has already reached P11,000.
“Maka-alarma ning utanga. Nganong maka-utang man ta sa private motor shop nga naa man ta’y atoang motor pool aron moayo sa atong guba nga mga sakyanan,” Cabigas said, adding that the city has an appropriation of P8 million for repair and maintenance of vehicles.
Cabigas said some personnel at the city’s motor pool are inept for their failure to repair unserviceable trucks and vehicles of the government.
City administrator Ritchel Bacaltos, in a separate interview, admitted the city government owes a private motor shop some money. He said the city’s motor pool has limited manpower resources and that it had sought the services of a private motor shop for the repair of the city’s vehicles.
“Dili man sab maatol tanan sa atong mga personnel diha sa motor pool nga moayo sa nangaguba nga sakyanan mao nga mikuha ta og pribadong shop,” Bacaltos said.
He, however, welcomed the move of the city council to investigate.
Councilor Danilo Caballero earlier asked Mayor Socrates Fernandez for the immediate repair of all garbage trucks.
Records from the Ecological Solid Waste Management Collection and Transport show that the city has 11 garbage trucks but only four of these are in good condition.
Residents of Tierra Grande Camella Homes in barangay Lawaan I had told reporters about the failure of the city to collect garbage in their area saying that it’s been a month since a garbage truck from the city had collected garbage in their area.
They said homeowners had paid a private group to collect their garbage. – (FREEMAN)
