Fugitive wishes to surrender

- Flor Z. Perolina - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines – One of the prisoners that escaped from the detention cell of police station 3 of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office last Saturday morning has indicated his intention to surrender.

Benjamin Aparri, 27, earlier arrested for a robbery and extortion, wishes to go back to Cebu and surrender to authorities. But what prevents him from doing so is lack of money for boat fare, Aparri’s father said.

The fugitive is hiding in Mindanao.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Office director Rey Lyndon Lawas said the police will shoulder the expenses.

On the other hand, former police station 3 chief P/Insp. Donald Geniston and jail guard PO3 Jude Salazar have been sent to the holding unit of the LLCPO while the case is being investigated.  – THE FREEMAN
