Talisay CH requests senators Pia, Bong for two ambulances
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Hall has turned to Senators Pia Cayetano and Ramon Revilla Jr. for financial assistance for the procurement of one fully equipped ambulance for the city and one fully equipped ambulance for barangay San Isidro.
In his two separate resolutions, Vice Mayor Alan G. Bucao, chairman, Committee on Public Order, Safety, Traffic Management and Public Utilities, has asked Cayetano for P2 million for the ambulance intended for the city and another P2 million for barangay San Isidro.
Bucao said the city has only one ambulance that is used by the Talisay Rescue Emergency Assistance Team (TREAT).
Talisay has twenty two barangays with a total population of one hundred sixty thousand.
“The City Government of Talisay finds it difficult to fulfill its obligation and meet all the emergency situations due to limited resources,” he said.
Barangay San Isidro, which his wife is the barangay captain, needs an ambulance to serve and transport the less fortunate constituents, Bucao said.
“At times, two or four barangays request for the ambulance. With that scenario, there is a need for the barangay of San Isidro to have its own ambulance,” Bucao said.
Bucao said it is the primary concern of the city government to ensure health and safety to its constituents and reduce disaster risks and enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities at all levels.
RA 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, provides goals and objectives of disaster preparedness, prevention and mitigation programs that reinforce the pursuit of Disaster Management Program at the local government level.
