Talisay dad suggests bringing doctors to barangays monthly

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilor Valeriano Ylanan has proposed to bring doctors to all barangays every month in order to intensify the medical services to the people, particularly to those in the mountain barangays. 

Ylanan, in his proposed resolution, suggests doctors visit barangays every month, but made it clear he does not undervalue barangay health workers.

Talisay has 22 barangays. 

If his resolution is approved, doctors will conduct thorough assessments on the medical needs of the residents and determine their health problems, recommend and provide medicines, and find ways of enhancing the delivery of health and sanitation services. 

Ylanan said the move will boost the city’s medical program that is intended for the poor since doctors in the barangays will beef up the work of midwives and nurses.
