CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Health Department has recorded 211 cases of dengue with two deaths from January to July of this year.

The Lapu-Lapu City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit data shows that Basak and Pajac 28 topped other barangays with 23 cases.

Barangays Pusok and Mactan also recorded 22 cases collectively.

Barangay Bankal recorded 18 cases, Gun-ob, 16, while other barangays recorded 2, 3, and 5 cases.

Only barangay Canjulao registered no dengue cases.

Barangay Tingo in Olango Island recorded one case.

No dengue cases were reported in barangays Tungasan, Talima, Sta. Rosa, San Vicente, Sabang, and the islet barangays of Pangan-an, Caw-oy, and Caubian.

City Health Department head Dr. Rodulfo Berame said the decrease was attributed to the intensified campaign initiated by his office in coordination with the Department of Education and barangays.

Berame said a massive education campaign is being carried out in different public elementary and high schools in the city.

“Dako gayud kaayo og natampo ang atong gihimo nga kampanya pag-edukar sa atong kabataan,” Berame said.
