CEBU, Philippines - A British national and his daughter lost valuables and cash while waiting for a taxi at a mall in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.
Michael Andrew Byrnes, 42, works as a teacher in Japan and is currently on vacation here with his family.
Byrnes told the Theft and Robbery Section of the Lapu-lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) that he and his daughter had gone to the mall to buy things and later queued for a taxi ride.
Since there were only a few taxis, he took a tricycle to Plantation Bay hotel where his family is staying.
When it was time to pay the tricycle driver, he discovered his wallet was gone.
With the help of the hotel’s security personnel, he went to the police.
He said he had P24,000 in his wallet, 190,000 Japanese yen, and a credit card.
He also said her daughter’s knapsack was slashed and the two cameras in it gone.
Byrnes said he and his family will leave for Japan on Monday. – THE FREEMAN
