Event organizer, 37, "molests" boy, 13

CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested Monday a 37-year-old event organizer for allegedly molesting the day before a 13-year-old first year high school student who allegedly passed out after drinking with friends.

SPO3 Junafe Vergara of the Canduman police station said the boy attends a public school in Cebu City.

Vergara said the boy had secured permission from his parents to join friends at a benefit dance at the Canduman gym.

At the dance, the boys danced and also engaged in drinking.

The boy may have become intoxicated and had blacked out, Vergara said.

While the boy was still unconscious, the event organizer allegedly took the boy to his house, Vergara said.

There, the boy was molested.

When the boy woke up, the event organizer handed him money and told him to go home, Vergara said.

At home, the boy told his father everything, and soon after the father went to the police.

A child abuse case is now being prepared against the event organizer who is temporarily detained at the Canduman police station.
