Scouts in Mandaue catch 267 litterbugs

CEBU, Philippines - Eighty-six boy and girl scouts of the Mandaue City Science High School apprehended yesterday in just a span of two hours 267 persons littering along S.B. Cabahug Street in barangay Ibabao, Mandaue City.

The scouts were assisted by the barangay captain Carmelino del Mar, Engr. Ricardo Mendoza, director of barangay Solid Waste Management Program, and the eco-wardens.

The scouts were led by head scout Cherry Dionson who said most of the violators were apprehended for spitting and disposing of cigarette butts and plastic bottles indiscriminately.

Violators were warned that a repeat of the offense would merit a fine of P500. The city will file charges if the fine is not paid within 72 hours. – (FREEMAN)
