Long neglected road in Naga sitio paved; locals rejoice
CEBU, Philippines - Residents of one of the populated sitios in barangay Tangke, Naga City have heaved a collective sigh of relief following the completion of the concreting of a pothole-riddled roadway that had not been paved for more than two decades.
A nearly 200-meter long access road shortly was repaired by the city government.
Barangay Tangke captain Mario Dickson Bartolabac said the sorry state of the unpaved roadway had caused so much inconvenience to villagers and even posed hazards to motorists.
The road was dusty in summer and muddy during rainy days, he said.
Bartolabac said the homeowners of sitio Apache thanked Mayor Valdemar Chiong for newly-paved roadway.
“The bumpy road is now over and would now be a thing of the past,” he said.
Mayor Chiong said paving roads is one of the priorities of his administration.
“This is to ensure the comfort and easy accessibility of residents and motorists alike as well as safe delivery of goods from remote hillyland areas down to our public market,” Chiong said.
The concreting of the road project came barely months after concerned homeowners asked Mayor Chiong to pave their only access road in the neighborhood. - THE FREEMAN
