CEBU, Philippines - Consolacion town Mayor Teresa Alegado yesterday enumerated in her State of the Town Address the accomplishments she had achieved while at the same time expressing her gratitude to town officials and the different sectors for their cooperation in making 2011 and the first half of this year a remarkable period for the town.

“We embarked on initiatives and programs that benefited our people and empowered our barangay officials in implementing and operating various projects,” Alegado said.

These we do with passion to serve in order to fulfill our mission to help our people, she said.

Last year, Alegado said she reported an 8-point agenda. This year, she said, the agenda has grown to ten.

The mayor said an additional of 2 essential fields has made her administration even more sensitive and responsive to the needs of the citizens and to the changes of the times.

“We have judiciously identified and implemented projects in areas of Social Service, Environment, Education, Health, Economic Programs and Livelihood, Agriculture, Peace and Order, Infrastructure, Heritage, Culture and Tourism, and Urban Planning,” she said.

The town has also helped job seekers find work by conducting job fairs.

The mayor also expressed thanks to Vice Mayor Aurelio Damole and members of the municipal council, and barangay officials, and the different sectors for supporting her administration.

Mayor Alegado further said it cannot be denied that they are now confronted with tremendous migration and economic growth.

“Challenges and opportunities are at hand, we have explored how we can improve the quality of life under these circumstances,” Alegado said.

The mayor said they have to see to it that they can always have a livable and sustainable community.

This year, Alegado said they are seeing stronger participation from the different government and private sectors in terms of expectations and new platforms.

Due to such, Alegado said they have made an emphasis in maximizing potential areas in the town.

“With this, we embark on a co-management program with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to plan, allocate, segregate, develop and manage the areas that belongs to the national government but has its great potential in the course of inevitable urban direction,” Alegado said.
