Man arrested for possessing gun

CEBU, Philippines - After spotting a motorcycle zigzagging through Cansaga Bay Bridge in barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City yesterday dawn, the police gave chase and arrested one of three men on a motorcycle for possession of a loaded gun.

Arrested was Charlo Cuyos, 18, of barangay Tayod, Liloan town. The police said he was drunk and a .38 cal. gun was seized from him.

It sped away instead of stopping when the police signaled for the motorcycle to stop.

The police gave chase and somewhere in barangay Paknaan, the three men got off their motorcycle and went their separate ways.

Only Cuyos was caught. He yielded a gun when frisked, police said.

Basak Police station chief P Sr./Insp Wilson Abot said his office will conduct a background check on Cuyos to find out whether he has a pending case in Liloan town or Mandaue City.

The police will file charges against Cuyos for drunkenness and gun possession.

He is currently detained at the Basak Police station.
