CEBU, Philippines - Through the government’s Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program, 2,540 families in Lapu-Lapu City have enabled them to send their children to school.
Based on the records available to The Freeman, the beneficiaries come from 19 of the 30 barangays.
Mayor Paz Radaza and officials of the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development visited barangay Buaya where they were met by 120 beneficiaries. They later proceeded to the Buaya Elementary School.
Radaza said the “Pantawid Program” is a poverty reduction and social development program initiated by the Aquino administration.
It provides conditional cash grants to the “poorest of the poor” households to improve their health, nutrition and education, particularly of children aged 0-14 years. (FREEMAN)
