- Garry B. Lao - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has pledged to donate brand new equipment to the Carcar City’s new slaughterhouse to make it a Class A facility and to build more classrooms and school supplies.

Based on the classifications of abattoirs by the National Meat Inspection Service, Class A refers to those with facilities and procedures of minimum adequacy that the livestock and fowls slaughtered are suitable for distribution and sale only within the city or municipality where the slaughterhouse is located.

Garcia was in Carcar City to attend the city’s 5th Charter Day last July 7.

The governor and her brother, third district representative Cong. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, also attended the inauguration of the millions-worth of infrastructure projects, which include the city’s new slaughterhouse in Taclog, barangay Poblacion III.

“We will continue to build more classrooms for the school, if needed,” the governor said, adding that she will also continue to distribute school supplies for the children and teaching materials for the teachers.

Mayor Nicepuro Apura and Vice Mayor Patricio Barcenas said the provincial government helped fund the construction of five school buildings worth P4.49 million.

Apura said the inauguration of a two-classroom school building in Napo Elementary School was worth P796,000, which the provincial government funded.

In his Charter Day message, Apura mentioned the numerous programs and projects that the city received from the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Garcia.
