Minglanilla Mayor Selma to give up politics in 2013
CEBU, Philippines - Minglanilla town Mayor Eduardo Selma will not vie for any political position when his term ends in 2013.
Unlike Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, who is serving his last term and will vie for a seat in the city council, Selma will become a private citizen.
“No, I will not run for any position,” Selma said.
The mayor was reportedly diagnosed with lung cancer.
However, the Selmas in Minglanilla will not fade. Minglanilla Councilor Robert John “Jojo” Selma will run as vice mayor.
Vice-Mayor Elanito “Lani” Alidon Peña, who is on his third and last term, was endorsed by the Alayon party headed by Cebu 1st district Rep. Eduardo Gullas as the next mayor. - THE FREEMAN
