Talisay firms urged to hire legit guards
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, chairman of the committee on peace & order & public safety, is working on a measure that will require business establishments to hire security personnel from legitimate security agencies.
Just recently, the city government required all commercial establishments in Talisay City to install closed circuit television (CCTV) systems to prevent crimes.
Bucao has observed that some security guards hired by business establishments come from obscure agencies and are not licensed to carry firearms.
Bucao has aired this concern in view of an incident last week when a security guard was killed while another guard was wounded in a private subdivision in barangay Candulawan, Talisay City.
Alejandro Masillones, 38, was declared dead at the Talisay District Hospital. The other guard, Joel Pareja, 42, is recuperating in a Cebu City hospital.
The security guards from Nima Security Agency were assigned at the Vista Grande Heights.
In an investigation, the slain security guard had written down on a page of a newspaper the names of the men who attacked him.
The attack occurred a few days after one guard figured in an argument with two men who were advised to drive slowly in the subdivision. - THE FREEMAN
