Woman hacked

CEBU, Philippines - A 62-year-old woman was hacked by a neighbor Sunday morning in barangay Lanipga, Consolacion town.

Adelaida Gonzaga was taken to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for a wound on the left arm.

Her attacker was identified by the police as Jane Edelyn Maliawao, 28. She was arrested by the police at her home.

She is now detained at the Consolacion stockade.

PO1 Harley Itang of the Consolacion Police Station said the problem could have started when Maliawao poured dirty water in front of Gonzaga’s house.

This led to an exchange of words.  

At the height of the altercation, Maliawao took a 20-inch long bolo and swung at Gonzaga, hitting her on the arm.
