Guard, before dying, writes down names of his attackers

CEBU, Philippines - A security guard died and a companion was injured after being stabbed repeatedly by two men at a guard house of a subdivision in barangay Candulawan, Talisay City.

Alejandro Masillones, 38, of barangay Calajo-an, Minglanilla, town was declared dead on arrival at the Talisay City District Hospital.

He was stabbed on the neck and the back of his body.

His companion, Joel Pareja, 42, of barangay Carreta, Cebu City, was taken to the Minglanilla District Hospital and later taken to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City. Contusions show on his left face and different parts of the body.

Both men belong to the Nima Security Agency.

The police are looking for a Harold Canama and a Narciso Mabano, who are allegedly motorcycle-for-hire drivers and residents of the place.

Police said both names and a plate number of a vehicle were found written on a newspaper.

The hand writing belong to Masillones. Police believe the names and number were written before he died.

SPO1 Mikie Espina, Talisay City police investigator, said Masillones, the guard on duty, was at his post while Pareja, outgoing guard, had stayed with him to relax.

At this juncture, two men arrived on a Silver-colored vehicle bearing plate number GXJ-976 and approached the guards.

One of them pulled out a bladed weapon and repeatedly stabbed Masillones while Pareja was mauled by the other man.

Espina suspected that before Masillones died he wrote the plate number of the vehicle as well as the names of the attackers on a newspaper.

Police confirmed the hand writing belonged to Masillones based on the security guard log book.

The attackers allegedly took the issued shotgun of Masillones.

Further investigation revealed that last Wednesday morning Masillones argued with a motorcycle-for-hire driver for blowing his horn.

“Nanugon gani kuno siya nga kung dunay mahitabo sa iyaha ipatan-aw lang ang bungbung ug papel kay isuwat niya ang ngalan,” Espina said in a phone interview.

Police recovered the newspaper with blood stains on it.  (FREEMAN)
