CEBU, Philippines - Two men on a motorcycle were arrested for attempting to avoid a checkpoint Sunday afternoon along A. C. Cortes Ave. corner Isla de Palma in barangay Looc, Mandaue City and for possession of illegal drugs.
But one of them has claimed being a hired killer.
Arrested were Angelito Arcaya, 42, and Winston Juntilla, 43, married, who are both residents of sitio Bato in barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
Arcaya, who drove the motorcycle, could not show a driver’s license. Police found shabu in his wallet and a cellular phone.
Juntilla yielded two syringes, one of which contained the regulated drug nubain.
At the Opao police station, Arcaya admitted being a hired gun after the police seized his phone and found a text message from someone asking for his price to kill someone.
“Naa man gud mi nakit-an nga text message nga nag ingon ‘naa ko’y ipatira nga asset nimo pila ma’y imong pangayo?’ Amo siya gi-interrogate ug ni-admitar ra sad siya nga duna na siya napatay nga taga Junquera ug Pasil,” Opao Police station chief P Sr./Insp Stephen Amamag-id said.
Both men are now detained at the Opao police station. - THE FREEMAN
