Compostela to extend medical assistance to poor residents
CEBU, Philippines - Compostela town will extend P1.8 million in assistance to indigent residents who may be confined at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Vice Mayor Antonette Dangoy, who represents Mayor Joel Quiño, and Dr. Gerardo Aquino, Chief of Hospital of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the aid.
The signing was witnessed by members of the municipal council of Compostela and barangay captains.
Dangoy said that as a practicing doctor she knows the problem every patient faces when taken to hospital.
“Nakita nato ug sa atong mayor ang dakong problema sa atong mga katawhan ilabi na gayud kon makadala sila sa tambalanan,” Dangoy said.
Dangoy said the money will be deposited at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
She said every patient admitted at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center is entitled to P1,500 to P3,000.
Dangoy said guidelines will be in place to control the release of the assistance.
“Gusto sa mayor nga makapahimulos gayud ang kinabag-an nato nga mga kaigsoonan sa lungsod sa Compostela,” Dangoy said.
