Talisay to pick new scholars

-

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City government’s new scholars are entitled to subsidized tuition at the Talisay City College for the next school year.

“We may take more than the original quota, depending on the budget. But rest assured, the deserving ones will be our priority,” said Edgardo Mabunay, the city’s budget officer.

The city’s scholars last school year numbered about 200 and were all enrolled at the city-run TCC.

Some of them graduated last March, thus starting next week, the city will interview new applicants and pick from them the new set of scholars.

There are reportedly several applicants already as of this week, but Mabunay said the number of scholars to be admitted will depend on available funds.

The funds for this scholarship is taken from the Alay Lakad and the city’s counterpart funds, said Mabunay.

Nonetheless, Mabunay said they will pick scholars from indigent families and those who “deserve” the scholarship. (FREEMAN)
