Woman arrested for illegal drugs

CEBU, Philippines - A woman who is out on bail for an illegal drugs case was arrested again Sunday noon during a buy-bust operation in sitio San Roque in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Naneth Veloso, 43, jobless, was arrested by the police after handing alleged shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P400.

When frisked, Veloso yielded more shabu and some drug paraphernalia.

Basak police station chief P/Insp. Wilson Abot said the woman was also arrested for selling illegal drugs in Lapu-Lapu City and had posted bail.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old minor was arrested at a checkpoint in sitio Capasan, barangay Casili, Mandaue City which was put up by men from the Canduman police station Sunday afternoon.

The police stopped a motorcycle with two men who weren’t wearing helmets.

Arrested were the juvenile and Joseph Roxas, a resident of barangay Pulpoga, for not wearing helmets.

Roxas was discovered for driving without a license.

The police also found shabu in the juvenile’s possession.

The minor is now detained at the Canduman Police station pending the filing of charges against him.

Roxas was issued a Temporary Operator’s Permit for driving without a license and for not using a helmet.   - THE FREEMAN
