Man commits suicide after girl ditches him

CEBU, Philippines - A 38-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after the woman he was courting refused to dance with him during a benefit dance Wednesday dawn in barangay Cogon-Catarman in Liloan town.

Alfredo Mariquit, 38, single, and temporarily residing in the house of an uncle in barangay Cogon-Catarman hanged himself.

He was taken to the Eversley Hospital in Mandaue City but was declared dead on arrival.

The police in Liloan said Mariquit was courting Maricel, of legal age, who rented a room in his uncle’s house.

Mariquit invited the woman Wednesday evening to a benefit dance in barangay Yati.

There, Mariquit asked the woman for a dance but she turned him down.

Later, he saw Maricel dancing with another man.

When they got home at around 1 a.m., the woman went to her room while Mariquit committed suicide, police said. (FREEMAN)
