One of three suspects in boy's abduction in Talisay arrested

CEBU, Philippines - One of the three men suspected of abducting and shooting a 16-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday.

Ranny Vallente, 34, of sitio Mananga, who owns the green-colored multicab allegedly used in the abduction, was arrested at his eatery.

His nephew, Tito Arevalo, 25, and another cohort are at large.

The police have prepared criminal charges against the three men.

The boy was abducted last Tuesday morning in barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, hogtied and dumped in sitio Nonoc before he was shot once in the back of his body.

Residents who took him to hospital claimed the boy was still blindfolded when they found him.

Police said the abductors told the boy to admit to having committed a robbery but he denied being involved.

A few minutes later, the boy was dumped on the road.

Police said the abductors were allegedly robbed and had suspected the boy of pulling the robbery. — (FREEMAN)
