Jadewell still towing

-

CEBU, Philippines - Why does Jadewell Pay Parking Systems continue to do business despite warnings from Mandaue City?

Jadewell operations manager Tomas Villanueva said the company is just asserting its rights as stipulated in the contract with the city government.

Villanueva said the company’s chief  executive officer (CEO) Rogelio Tan has said that what the company signed with the city government was a bilateral contract but the issuance now of the cease and desist order has turned out to be a unilateral act.

He said Tan has also said that it is only the court that can determine whether the company had violated some provisions of the contract, such as its alleged late remittances and its failure to pay the P500,000 bond.

A notice to the public has already been posted in strategic places in the city which states that Jadewell is no longer authorized  to collect parking fees and is no longer allowed to tow vehicles.

Villanueva said the “notice to the public” has added insult to injury.

He said it would have been much better if such notice was published in newspapers.

“We are just praying this issue could be resolved soon and that both parties will be able to come up with an amicable settlement ug di na maabot sa korte,” Villanueva said.

Mandaue City Police Office Director (MCPO) director P Sr./Supt Noel Gillamac said motorists whose vehicles are towed by Jadewell could file a complaint in its office.

The police could assist motorists in the filing either a carnapping or grave coercion case against the company on the ground that it is no longer authorized to do so. (FREEMAN)
