Talisay OBO tells firm to stop construction

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - The Office of the Building Official (OBO) in Mandaue City has ordered Technical Solutions Center of the Gaisano Capital Chain of Stores to stop its on-going construction in barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City.

Engineer Marivic Cabigas of the OBO yesterday said a notice of violation had been sent to Edmund Gaisano after neighboring establishments complained about an ongoing excavation and construction without having a permit.

Cabigas said the OBO confirmed after an ocular inspection that the center had been ordered to stop the construction and secure a building permit.

Cabigas said her office doesn’t know when the construction began.

“We have no idea when sila nag-start kay supposed to be mokuha unta na sila daan ug building permit before ang construction,” Cabigas said.

She said when a notice of violation was served, a representative of the company was at first hesitant to receive it.

But she told the representative that two more notices will be sent to the establishment if it continued with the construction.

She said the OBO will then be obliged to endorse the case to the legal office.

Cabigas said the representative had told her the firm’s papers are already with the City Zoning Office.

But a check with the office showed the papers have been put on hold because the company has not secured an Environmental Certificate Compliance from the DENR.

She said the company can only continue with the construction if it complied with all the requirements from her office and the City Zoning Office. (FREEMAN)
