Vintage bomb found in Cansojong, Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - A vintage bomb was discovered the other day by a house help in a private resident in barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.

Fe Gonzales of the Fishermen Sea and Ecological Care (Fiseca) said the incident had alarmed residents in the area.

The house help, while digging a hole where she allegedly would bury the house’s garbage, accidentally unearthed the bomb.

The helper, who works for Dr. Macaraig Canton, reportedly tried to pound the bomb with a hammer in the hope of freeing it from the ground, but a fellow helper cautioned him that the bomb could go off if he continued what he was doing.

Canton reported the incident to the Bantay Dagat office which reported the matter to the police.

Authorities believe this area of Cansojong is still teeming with vintage bombs.

Last February, a bomb was found in almost the same spot.

A dog, while scratching the soil, accidentally exposed the bomb.
