2 women almost drown

CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old woman and a companion who doesn’t know how to swim would have drowned yesterday had friends not noticed them in distress right away.

Maryrose Maro, a resident of sitio Seaweeds, barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City was swimming with friends under the Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday afternoon.

At first, one of her companions was brought to the shore.

“Dili kamao mulangoy ang una niya’ng kauban nga gitabang, nadala dayon sa daplin,” police said.

The Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation-base 2 in Lapu-Lapu took Maro to the Mactan District Hospital where she is in stable condition. - THE FREEMAN
