DOLE, Luigi award financial aid to 8 people's organizations
CEBU, Philippines - Nine hundred thousand pesos in financial grants was distributed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to eight people’s organizations through the efforts of the Asenso Sixto livelihood program of sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing.
The distribution of the financial grant was held Tuesday at Quisumbing’s Sixth District Office.
With Rep. Quisumbing during the distribution were Dole-7 regional director Gloria Tango, and representatives of eight beneficiaries from Mandaue City and Consolacion and Cordova towns.
Six of the organizations have opted to venture into rag-making.
The Tugbungan Empowerment and Rights from Consolacion town was given P80,004.
The Women for Empowerment and Economic Development of Pitogo, Consolacion town also received P80,000, Barangay Ibabao Women’s Association of barangay Ibabao, Consolacion town, P80,000, Dapitan Women’s Organization of barangay Dapitan, Cordova town, P80,000, Nagkahiusang Pundok sa Organizadong Kababayen-an of barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City, P126,530.00.
The Sulong-Mandawehanong Kabus (SUMAKA) of barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City got P175,000 for the group’s hollow-block business, and the Bakilid Tricycle Drivers Organization, Inc. of Bakilid, Mandaue, engaged in motor spare parts accessories got P146,460.00.
Their projects will be closely monitored by the Sixto Distrito personnel.
During the distribution, Quisumbing lauded the Department of Labor and Employment through its newly installed regional director Tango for its efforts to help constituents of the 6th district. - THE FREEMAN
