Business owners told to be vigilant
CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City Police Office has urged all establishment owners in Mandaue City to visit their businesses during the observance of the Holy week.
Investigative and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) Chief P C/Insp. Michael Bastes yesterday said that during their conference with MCPO Director P Sr./Supt. Noel Gillamac, station commanders and special unit commanders were ordered to coordinate with bank officials, pawnshops, and money changers.
Bank officials and establishment owners in the city are being encouraged to visit their establishments from time to time because the police have no access to their establishments and all they could do is patrol and respond to alarms.
Bastes said that since this is a long holiday, crime awareness should also be instilled in the minds of the public, this is the time when Akyat-bahay gangs, acetylene gangs, and the bolt-cutter gangs operate when most people are in places of worship.
Residents are also advised not to leave their homes without leaving persons to look after them. - THE FREEMAN
