Dengue cases in Talisay decreases

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City has recorded 202 cases of dengue last year; three of these resulted to deaths, according to records compiled by the office of Councilor Choy Aznar, chairman on committee on health.

Last January saw 20 patients, while February had 22 with one death.

March’s 14 cases had one death while April’s 15 cases also recorded one death.

In May, the cases dropped to 10, and dropped furthermore to only one case in June.

In July however, the number of dengue patients reached 12, and rose to 14 the following month.

September had 27 cases, October, 18, November, 25, and December, 24.

The office of Councilor Aznar also named barangays Lawaan, San Roque, Tanke and San Isidro as having the most number of dengue cases.

Lawaan had 36, San Roque and Tanke 24, while San Isidro had 15, two of which were fatalities.

The third death was recorded in barangay Cansojong.

Last year’s record was however a far cry from 2010’s  449 cases, wherein six were fatalities. - THE FREEMAN
