Man shot, attackers flee

 CEBU, Philippines - A 33-year-old man was in critical condition when taken to hospital Thursday night after getting shot in the head in crime-prone sitio Mananga I, barangay Tabunok, Talisay City

Ilsaias Cabanig, a resident of barangay Linao of the same city, sustained a gunshot wound on the lower part of his left ear.

The bullet exited on the right side of his neck.

Cabanig is recuperating at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

He identified his attackers as Maldwin Cabusas, 22 and Joshua Taberna, 23, both of whom are from sitio Crusher, barangay Lawaan III, Talisay City.

Based on the initial investigation, Cabanig was with his common-law wife Emmalinda Dalapu, 36, when two men approached the couple.

Taberna allegedly punched Cabanig, sending him to the ground.

Cabusas then drew a .45 caliber pistol and allegedly shot Cabanig.

They immediately fled from the scene.

Police recovered one empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol and a slug.

Authorities failed to catch them.  (FREEMAN)
