MCPO recovers stolen motorcycle

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City Police Office has in its custody a motorcycle stolen by a man identified with a robbery group the leader of which was shot to death in a gun battle with the police two months ago.

A team led by P/Supt Jason Capoy, the city deputy director for Operations and Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) Chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos yesterday seized a motorcycle stolen by Marlon Andrino who belonged to a group led by Harold Barbero who was killed during a shootout.

Morpos said a mechanic turned over to them yesterday a Honda Beat motorcycle which Andrino grabbed from owner Cheryl Alicaway last January 7.

Alicaway was driving her motorcycle along San Miguel Village in barangay Cubacub when the motorcycle Andrino and a companion were riding hit Alicaway’s motorcycle.

Andrino got off the motorcycle and grabbed Alicaway’s motorcycle and sped away.

Andrino is currently detained at the Mandaue City Jail for robbing a woman in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City last January 12.

His accomplice Junie Caraat was shot by the police in the head during a chase.

Harold Barbero, the gang’s leader died in a shootout with the Provincial Intelligence Bureau last January 17 in barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.

The group was involved in a series of robberies in Metro Cebu.

 After Barbero’s death, the police seized a motorcycle and a cellular phone from the safe house of the same group members in Danao City.

The phone and motorcycle were stolen from three Italians.
