Police "asset" arrested for robbery

CEBU, Philippines - A police “asset” was arrested after a neighbor positively identified him as the one who broke into his home in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Sunday dawn.

Harry Baunsit, 33, married, a resident of sitio Saac 2 of barangay Mactan was a police asset of police station 5 (Opao police station) in Mandaue City and is currently detained at the Lapu-Lapu City detention cell.

James Terado, 26, married, complained to the police that Baunsit broke into his house and stole his P13,700 and a mobile phone worth P4,000.

Terado said he saw Baunsit fleeing from his house.

He said Baunsit destroyed the lawanit walling of his comfort room to gain entry into his house.

Terado reported the incident yesterday early morning to the Mactan police station and policemen went to Baunsit’s house and arrested him.

Baunsit denied the allegation.

The stolen items were recovered.  (FREEMAN)
