Rob suspect "salvaged"

CEBU, Philippines - One of three men traveling on a motorcycle shot dead a robbery suspect who, five days ago, was released from jail after posting bail.

Investigators of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Crime Against Persons Desk said Diano Tesoro, 22, of barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City was walking along Sangi Road in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City Saturday dawn with a 14-year-old cousin.

The cousin said Tesoro told him to buy cigarettes when they passed by a convenience store.

While the cousin was at the store, a motorcycle with three persons on board arrived, one of them shot Tesoro in the face.

He died on the spot.

The assailants fled towards barangay Gun-ob, witnesses said.

A tanod of barangay Pajo told police that Tesoro and his friends allegedly extorted money from people in the neighborhood.

Policemen led by PO2 William Ybanez recovered an empty shell of a 9mm caliber gun at the crime scene.

The body now lies at the Soreline Memorial Service for autopsy. (FREEMAN)
